People proceed on a Way of the Cross through downtown, Washington, D.C., on Good Friday, April 7. The Way of the Cross was organized by Communion and Liberation, an international Catholic lay movement. Participants started at St. Stephen Martyr Church for choral pieces and readings, then proceeded through the city praying Stations of the Cross at various locations as a public gesture of witnessing to Christ's Passion. The Way of the Cross concluded at St. Patrick's Church in Washington, where participants prayed the final Station of the Cross. (CS photos/Mihoko Owada)
