Joseph Vaghi awarded Legion of Honor by France
Joseph P. Vaghi, Jr., recently earned France’s highest civilian honor, the Legion of Honor, for his war bravery. He served as a Navy beach master during the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France on June 6, 1944. Agnes Vaghi, his wife of 57 years, died in 2004. They have four sons: Msgr. Peter Vaghi, the pastor of the Church of the Little Flower in Bethesda; Dr. Vincent Vaghi; Nino Vaghi; and Joseph Vaghi III. Mr. Vaghi, who is now 92, has six grandchildren.
