Photo Gallery: Solar eclipse brings wonder of universe to St. Michael’s students and archdiocesan staff

As it did for people across the United States, viewing the solar eclipse on April 8 brought a sense of wonder and excitement to students at St. Michael’s Catholic School in Ridge, Maryland, who gathered outside the school, and also to staff members of The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington who gathered outside the Pastoral Center in Hyattsville. Students at St. Michael’s Catholic School in Ridge had a very special after-school activity on April 8, as they wore protective glasses and viewed the solar eclipse, led by their pastor, Father Peter Giovanoni, who earned degrees in astronomy before entering the priesthood. About 60 employees of The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington and guests gathered outside the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center in Hyattsville, Maryland, on April 8, 2024 to view the solar eclipse.
