Photo Gallery: Cardinal Gregory celebrates Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday

Washington Cardinal Wilton Gregory celebrated a Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, D.C. During the Mass, which commemorated Jesus’s gift of the Eucharist at the Last Supper, the cardinal also washed the feet of 12 men and women, repeating Jesus’s act of humble service at the Last Supper and Jesus’s call for His followers to serve those in need. After the Mass on Holy Thursday, the cardinal led a Eucharistic procession to the Altar of Repose at the cathedral’s St. Anthony Chapel, and the cathedral’s sanctuary was stripped in preparation for the next day’s Good Friday liturgies.
