The Lucinda L. Jasper Scholarship Fund is now seeking applicants for the 2021 school year.
The scholarship – named in honor of the late Lucinda L. Jasper, who was an educator for more than 30 years in the Archdiocese of Washington – each year awards two scholarships to students who currently attend a Catholic grade school in the Archdiocese of Washington and who have been accepted to attend a Catholic high school in the archdiocese.
Students who the apply for the scholarship will be judged on three criteria:
• an essay of 1,500 to 2,500 words on an African American who has influenced the applicant to continue on to higher education;
• achievement demonstrated by academic records from the school; and
• a recommendation from a teacher.
The amounts of the awards are $3,000 for first place and $2,000 for second place.
The application packet for the scholarship competition can be found online, http://www.lljsf.org/.
Submissions will be accepted only online and must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2021.
