St. Francis Xavier, Newtowne has stood as a landmark of faith, from colonial times to digital age
Cardinal Donald Wuerl and Father Brian Sanderfoot, the pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Newtowne, stand outside the parish church built in 1731 that is believed to be the oldest Catholic Church in continuous use in the 13 original colonies. Cardinal Wuerl celebrated a June 9 Mass marking the 350th anniversary of St. Francis Xavier Parish and presented Father Sanderfoot with an apostolic blessing from Pope Benedict XVI.
