Volunteers needed for annual Christmas dinner at National Shrine

The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception will sponsor dinner for those who are alone or in need on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, from 12:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to assist in preparing, serving, and delivering meals as well as assisting with other logistics.  Drivers with vehicles are especially needed to deliver meals.

The 41st annual event is expected to feed approximately 1,600 people in the metropolitan area.  Meals will be served in the National Shrine’s dining room and will be delivered to the homes of those in need in the District of Columbia, and in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.

In addition to dinner, guests will be treated to the fellowship of clergy, staff and volunteers, as well as Christmas carols and gifts. Those interested in volunteering cansign up online at www.nationalshrine.com/christmasdinner or call 202-526-8300.
