Six African men ordained as new Josephite priests

Six new Josephite priests with roots in Africa were recently ordained to serve in that religious order, which as an historic legacy in the African-American community. The May 29 ordination Mass was held at Holy Comforter-St. Cyprian Church in Washington. The six new priests, shown standing in the lower part of the photo as a blue-robed choir sings, are, from left to right: Father Kenneth C. Ugwu, Father Godwin Akpan, Father Kenneth I. Keke, Father Francis D. Asomkase, Father Joseph Gbenga Benjamin, and Father Stanley K. Ihuoma. The new priests were all born in Nigeria. As seminarians, they all served at Washington-area parishes. Now the new priests will serve at Josephite parishes across the United States.
