St. Augustine honors parish elders
At its recent gala, St. Augustine Parish's 150th Anniversary Honorees included, seated in front, Pauline Jones; in middle row, sisters Harriet Braxton Parker and Florence Braxton; and standing behind them, George Dines. The St. Augustine 150th Anniversary Honorees also included Willis Thomas; and the late Leon Roberts, who gained national renown as the director of St. Augustine's Gospel Choir; Mother Mary Elizabeth Lange, the founder of the Oblate Sisters of Providence that staffed St. Augustine School for many years; and the St. Augustine Sunday School, which has educated generations of children at the parish.
